Sieves: Collect a variety of sieves or make your own with aluminum pie tins, plastic butter tubs, plastic soda bottles, or plastic milk jugs. Poke different size holes in the bottoms of each container. Have the children observe the speed with which the sand moves when the holes are big and how slow when they are small.
