Red-Eyed Frog: The following poem is read like Brown Bear, Brown Bear by Bill Martin, Jr. After the children have read it and you have made your class "big book," encourage the children to add new verses to the poem or write their own poems.

Red-Eyed Frog
Author unknown

Red-eyed frog, what do you see
Sitting on a branch way up in a tree?

I can see a bird flying through the air-
Off to find dinner in the forest somewhere.

Red-eyed frog, what do you see
Sitting on a branch way up in a tree?

I can see a worm wiggle on the ground-
Up and down, back and forth--all without a sound.

Red-eyed frog, what do you see
Sitting on a branch way up in a tree?

I can see a fish swimming in a stream.
There he goes by with the rest of his team.

Red-eyed frog, what do you see
Sitting on a branch way up in a tree?

I see a moth flutter in the breeze
Over here, over there…Oh, what a tease!

Red-eyed frog, what do you see
Sitting on a branch way up in a tree?

I see a rabbit hopping to her nest.
That is the place she likes the best.

Red-eyed frog, what do you see
Sitting on a branch way up in a tree?

I see a snake slither to and fro.
Off to river I hope he'll go.

Red-eyed frog, sitting in the tree
You can see the world, but you can't see me.
