The basic home center: The first four weeks of school are difficult for young children who making their transition from home to school. The home center offers a familiar surrounding. It also has all the "stuff" they know well and it offers them a chance to recreate their own comfortable family routine. At first put out limited materials. When children have master cleaning up those things, then more things can be added. Leave the basic home center alone until the children tire of it. Then change to other settings. Between changes return to be basic home center. Careful organization of the objects and materials you put in the center will make it successful for them and for you.
