Bromeliad Poem: Copy the poem on a chart. Laminate it. Find pictures of different bromeliads. Glue the pictures around the poem on the chart. Have the children use highlight tape to find: (1) the rhyming words; (2) all the blends; and, (3) the punctuation marks.

A plant that lives on the branch of a tree
Is a special gift from nature to me.
Food and water are drawn from the air.
It has no roots to hold it up there.
High on the branches it sits aloft.
Isn't it worried it might fall off?
