White beans to green beans: Place dried beans in an empty jar. Make holes in the jar lid. Add an inch of beans in the bottom; fill the jar with water. Do not put on the lid. Let the beans soak overnight. The next day, put on the lid and drain the water from the jar. Put the jar in a dark place. Everyday remove the lid, pour in fresh water, put on the lid, drain off the water and return it to darkness. In four days the beans sprout; they will be white. The reason they're white is without the sunlight the beans cannot make chlorophyll. Now put the jar into the sunlight, without the lid, and watch the beans turn green. With the beans now in the sunlight they can start turning water and carbon dioxide into sugar and oxygen. This is how they make their food. You can eat the bean sprouts!
