Plant dried pumpkinseeds: Save small, milk containers and use soil. Let each child fill his carton with soil and plant two seeds. Two seeds are needed in case one does not sprout. When all the pumpkin plants have sprouted and a vine starts growing, send the children home with them to plant in their yards. Often, I put down a black garbage bag in a safe area of the schoolyard and I put a tire over it. I filled it with soil and planted three seeds. When they grew we had pumpkins for the next-year's class. For more information on both of these activities see Everyday Discoveries, pages 174-175 and 180-181
